Hybrid systems

As you might expect, a hybrid CMS combines elements of the online and offline processing systems. Some systems will combine both web design and development features which greatly enhance its current functionality.

These systems often include multilingual versions for other geographical locations; a flexible Application Programming Interface (API), e.g. Google Maps API; search engine friendly content and a range of web forms.

A particular feature of hybrid systems is their ability to produce executable code such as PHP, Perl and ASP instead of static HTML which means that this system does not need to be installed on every web server.

Some systems are able to do this whereas others function in an online or offline mode.

Advantages of a hybrid system

The advantages of a hybrid system are based upon the positive aspects of both an offline and online processing systems.

A hybrid CMS is sometimes known as ‘frying system’ which is a reference to the ‘on demand’ status of its templates. Web pages are created as per the user’s instructions – hence the name. A web page appears each time the user asks for it.
